Where is Who?

I wanted to provide some explanation for my small but persistent readership - my postings have grown somewhat "infrequent" during the month of March due to the pressures of work and travel. So, my long overdue conclusion to this series has been languishing.

But not because I haven't been thinking about it. And the Lord, in His sovereign mercy, has been shaping and refining my thinking as I've been thinking through the topic.

Tonight, I'm in the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee (that's a post in and of itself!), and I'm finally decompressing from the last 3 weeks of feverish work pace, and coming back to the real world - so, be thinking about this with me about the "Who" of the Evangelical church today:

What is it about individuals - no, about US, that makes an organization a "church?"

I think that it is 3 things... and that's what we'll evaluate in our conversation... "Who" we are exalts God's Name and His Word when we are a people characterized by:
  • Truth
  • Integrity
  • Community

I know you'll be surprised, but I don't think we're doing so well at those things as a movement. But we ought to be and, by God's grace, He'll raise those characteristics up again in those who call themselves His children.

The details... I'll post later this week.

Good to hear from you! And it was great to see your comment over at Bluecollar! Thanks for your kind words.

We would love to hear about the Smokey Mountains or anything else from your keyboard. Don't hesitate to just post what's going on in your mind even if it is outside of the series of posts you're working on.
