How Do We Present the Gospel?

Here's a question: What is the Gospel? What do we as evangelicals say when presenting the Good News about Jesus? What do you think is important for people to hear?

Or maybe more precisely, what ISN'T said?

Do yourself a favor and watch this brief video... and tell me what you think about the ideas presented here. I'm not pointing at any one church, but I believe that there is no denying that the ideas in this video do NOT represent the thinking of most evangelistic messages in Evangelicalism these days. I'm wondering... Why not?

Let's discuss. Comments are open.

Excellent post. The video is outstanding. And it shows the faulty thinking used in current evangelistic methods.

outstanding...

please don't stop Doulos... even though few people comment, I am drawn to your blog like a parched soul... recently the Lord has been using you and my pastor to open my eyes... I fear I fell into the trap in the past of watering down the gospel to encourage others to come, then squirmed when they asked the harder questions... not wanting to offend... bless you for just SAYING it, and showing me where so many others are saying it!

I keep seeing churches roll people in the front door... then out the back door the people fall... it's no wonder... lives aren't REALLY being changed... eyes are opened, but without the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, how can they really know the Living Lord? God must weep over our desire to put him in a nice little heart-shaped box...

It is so very frustrating to watch people play around with church, like it's the local country club. I'm starting to get it -- finally... those whom He calls will come, in spite of what fancy show is put on or not put on... but without the whole truth, how will anyone even know they jumped on the wrong band-wagon?

I am encouraged by the excellent posts and responses! I have been feeling like a "voice crying out in the wilderness" not that I am comparing myself to John the Baptist... I have been wondering what it is going to take for the Church to realize that we have been playing marbles with diamonds. Doulos, please do not grow weary in doing good!
